NYU Tisch Drama Musical: “John & Jen”
I had an incredible experience leading NYU Tisch’s musical production of Andrew Lippa’s “John and Jen” with Playwrights Horizons Theatre School. This two-person musical was directed by Ryan Greenberg-Faila, with Music Direction by Joshua Turchin, Assistant Directing by Bianca Mae Koniuk, and Movement Direction by Emma Gordon (Cherrywood Director!). This was such a beautiful story and I resonated so deeply with Jen’s character and her love for her little brother John (played by Noah Ong Bamola) while facing intense obstacles. Though she experienced a lot of fear and chaos in her childhood, she remained optimistic and resilient, and I certainly learned so much from playing her.
I am also very thankful for the creative liberty I was able to hold during this project, and I put my newfound marketing skills to work by organizing a promotional photoshoot with Shea Baasch (Tisch Photography Department). This was the perfect project to launch me into my third and final year of University training at NYU, and I cannot wait to work with this team again very soon. I can now cross off singing for almost 45 minutes straight on my performance bucket list!
