Assistant Stage Manager Debut: NYU Pulse Dance Project “HEATWAVE” Showcase

This past weekend, I had the honor to close out my Pulse Dance Project experience by stepping into a new artistic role: Assistant Stage Manager! Our spring showcase had a fiery theme of “Heatwave,” and I got to dance in Sarah Delgove’s hip-hop dance to “One-Minute-Man” by Missy Elliot. As I was only in one dance, I offered to help backstage and became the point of communication between our stage manager, director, and our 60-member dance group.

Being a part of this team for 3 years has meant so much to me, and I am so thankful I got to assume a leadership position to make the show run smoothly. We had about 400 people attend the showcase, and the entire performance was a huge success. Now that I know how to step into the role of ASM, I cannot wait to do it again!

Depending on where my career takes me this year, I would love to come back and ASM for Pulse for their Fall showcase once I am an alumnus. All of us seniors were very emotional during the final bows, and we all promised to keep in touch and stay connected with the group. Here’s to ending the semester strong and graduating in 2 weeks!
