Producing Debut: “54 Sings Greek Myths” at 54 Below

I got to make my 54 Below performing debut AND producing debut in the same week! August 6th and 11th were some of the most special performance days I’ve had so far, because I got to perform at a venue I have idolized for over a decade. When I first learned about 54 Below, I dreamed of being able to perform on that stage, a stage that has supported so many Broadway stars and up-and-coming artists find their community. I got to make this dream a reality when my friends and colleagues Joshua Turchin, Ryan Greenberg-Failla, and I asked each other, “Should we try to produce a show at 54 Below?” We began the process of brainstorming ideas in June, and a whirlwind journey later, we produced an over-sold-out cabaret celebrating Greek Myth-inspired Musical Theatre.

“54 Sings Greek Myths” had some incredible cast members, from some of my “Alice By Heart” friends to Broadway stars including Michael Thatcher (Wicked), Graham Stevens (Beetlejuice, Spamalot Revival), and our special guest, Lola Tung (Hadestown, The Summer I Turned Pretty). I will never forget how much of my community showed up for this cabaret, including 10 fellow yoga teachers-in-training from my summer Corepower 200-Hour Vinyasa Certification! I got to sing a medley of girl-group power numbers with Julia Macchio, Liz Mandell, and Mia Rose, was a back-up fate to the lovely Sway Bhatia, and got to sing a solo of one of my favorite songs, “Where Am I Now?” from Lysistrata Jones.

We seriously had the best time putting this group together, and we couldn’t have been happier at how well everything came together. I cannot wait to produce another cabaret show in New York, and now that the cabaret bug has bitten me, I cannot wait to do more! My next cabaret performance is a Shakespeare-inspired musical cabaret on October 5th, titled “54 Sings The Bard: Broadway Goes Shakespeare.” I have attached the ticket link for anyone who would like to see it!
